In this article we will find out about healing with solfeggio frequencies, covering what they are, where they originate from, how energetic frequencies have been used to impede or eliminate unhealthy cells, individual frequency characteristics and how to go about using them.
Just before we continue, we need to understand that everything in the universe is made up of energy and has its own vibration. Physics has demonstrated this and we are no longer tied to the belief that everything is matter. Different frequencies and energetic vibrations affect us in particular ways. In the simplest of terms, this is how the solfeggio frequencies work, but of course, there’s a little more involved…
What are solfeggio frequencies?
Solfeggio frequencies formed the ancient scale used by the Gregorian Monks, dating back as far as the 10th century A.D. There were initially 6 tones which were used in their chants for worship and reflection in the Roman Catholic church. They believed that these chants could bring great spiritual protection and favour.
The 6 tones or frequencies became lost over time but were rediscovered in the 1970s by physician and herbalist, Dr. Joseph Puleo. He decoded part of the Old Testament’s Book of Numbers and by studying the text he found a number of patterns whilst applying a method of mathematics introduced by Pythagoras over 2,000 years before. In simple terms, he found the sacred frequencies which all related to the “magic” numbers 3, 6 or 9.
In 1999 Puleo co-authored the book “Healing Codes for the Biological Apocalypse” with Dr. Leonard Horowitz, and Horowitz later discovered a further 3 sacred healing frequencies. It’s believed that these 9 frequencies can bring us harmony, peace and balance; they can retune us to our intended or optimal frequency to improve overall health and wellbeing, as well as to lead us back on the path to enlightenment.
This may sound a little out of whack, so here are a couple of quotes from inventor, engineer and without doubt one of the greatest minds of our time, Nikola Tesla :
“If you only knew the magnificence of the 3, 6 and the 9, then you would have a key to the universe.”
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”
Tesla was a truly amazing man, and a visionary in the field of electromagnetic vibration, so if he was thinking along these lines, I’m in! (Again, there’s a whole lot more involved. See below for further reading.)

Good Cell, Bad Cell…
In the 1920s, American inventor and scientist Dr. Royal Raymond Rife discovered that viruses and bacteria have their own vibrational signature. He found that by targeting cells with particular electronic frequencies he was able to inhibit their growth or eliminate them completely. He targeted “bad” cells without affecting healthy ones because their frequencies were different.
It was claimed that in the 1930s, Rife cured 16 terminally ill cancer victims using this method. So why is it not used to cure cancer today? Unfortunately, much of this research and its records have been “lost” or misplaced.
There’s a conspiracy theory that the big pharmaceutical organisations had much to gain by keeping this quiet, and were responsible for several suspicious fires and deaths which halted further research and destroyed volumes of research notes and records. But that’s a whole other article for a different time and place.
We know that when our individual frequencies become lower, we are more likely to suffer with illness and disease. Any number of things can bring our frequencies down on a cellular level, such as watching bad news on T.V., eating processed foods, substance abuse or being unkind to others.
Likewise, there are a number of things we can do to raise our vibration such as being grateful, thinking positive thoughts, carrying out random acts of kindness and listening to the solfeggio frequencies; these acts can help to retune us to the cosmos so we are vibrating as we should be.
The solfeggio frequencies – measured in hertz (Hz), or cycles per second – are believed to bring us back into harmony, reconnecting us to the source, God or whichever label works best for you. As well as overall retuning, each frequency has its own characteristics. These are summarised below.
Solfeggio Frequency Characteristics
174 Hz – The Pain Reliever
This frequency is a natural anaesthetic. It has pain relieving properties, particularly good for the lower back, legs and feet. Listening to this frequency can give the organs a boost and a little T.L.C. which can be especially useful after moments of over-indulgence or serious illness. It can also help us to feel relaxed and secure.
285 Hz – Healing and Repair
On a physical level, this frequency can help to repair tissue damage caused by wounds, burns and so on. It helps the body to remember the original structure of the tissue, and repair the damage in order to return to the original state. This frequency can also be used for many types of energetic healing, such as repairing the aura or chakra alignment.
396 Hz – Releasing Guilt and Fear
When we experience guilt we often cause energy blockages as we bury pain and memories deeply, hidden from our conscious minds. This frequency can help us to release these blockages, and also works on reducing fear, stress and anxiety. It also helps us to remove limiting thoughts, which in turn can enable us to achieve our goals and inner peace.
417 Hz – Time for Change
Using this frequency can help us to bring about change as it cleanses and clears bad energy from past experiences and trauma. By reversing this negativity, we are able to face the past and make way for new beginnings. It helps us to identify the strength within us. It provides us with a never-ending supply of love and energy – healing us, nourishing us and allowing us to reconnect with all that is. Listening to this frequency can improve cell and D.N.A. function.
528 Hz – Where Miracles Happen
This is called the miracle frequency. It’s believed to remove impurities, prevent illness and disease, repair D.N.A. and increase life energy, awareness and intuition. It’s said to bring clarity of mind, emotions and spirituality, allowing us to be more receptive to otherworldly experiences and essentially enlightenment. This frequency relates to transformation, imagination, creativity and inner joy.
639 Hz – Living and Loving
This frequency works specifically on maintaining harmony and strengthening all relationships by giving us the strength to be patient and tolerant of others and improving communication. It helps us to express love and understanding. We may also begin to experience dreams or visions of the spiritual realm, and begin to develop an understanding of that which we cannot see.
741 Hz – Cleaning and Detox
This is the frequency for detoxification – whether that’s eating and drinking healthier or re-assessing our lives and moving away from those that weaken us with their negativity energy. It can also help to clear electromagnetic build up and radiation. This frequency is also said to cleanse our body of viral, bacterial and fungal infections. It can help us to see things from a simpler perspective, allowing us to solve problems better and live a purer and perhaps more spiritual life.
852 Hz – Insight and Intuition
This frequency is associated with insight and intuition, helping us to see through the illusion of what isn’t real. It gives us mental clarity and inner strength. It can enable further or deeper spiritual awakening, assisting us on our path towards a higher state of consciousness. This frequency assists communication between our physical self and our higher self.
963 Hz – Return to Source
This frequency helps us to realign with the universe and return to our original connection. It is light, it is positivity and good vibes, it is perfection, acceptance and belonging. It is gentleness and serenity, it is coming home again at last. Quite simply it is pure love.
How to use solfeggio frequencies
There are no hard and fast rules about listening to solfeggio, but here are some pointers for getting the most out of their healing properties.
- Decide on which frequencies you will listen to – maybe 396 Hz for anxiety, maybe 528 Hz for healing the body, or maybe all of them for a full retune? Listen as a playlist or randomly, whatever feels right for you. You can mix it up from one day to the next.
- Some recordings play just the frequency, others have a musical accompaniment or even Gregorian chanting. Sample some different types to find out what you like.
- Make yourself comfortable – either laying down or sitting. You should be in a state of relaxation and focus – you can listen just before bed, whilst reading a book, studying or whatever you are doing but DO NOT listen when you need full attention like when driving or operating machinery.
- Where possible, find a quiet place away from noise and distraction and find a volume that’s right for you. I prefer quieter background noise while I’m writing. You may prefer something a little louder. If you need to zone out from what’s going on around you, listen with earphones or headphones.
- If you can listen to solfeggio frequencies 4 or 5 times a week, great. If you can make it part of your daily routine, even better. It’s O.K. to fall asleep whilst listening, so you could play the frequencies as you go to bed.
- You can listen for 10 minutes or for 2 hours or more. Again, whatever feels right for you and depending on how much time you have.
- Combining solfeggio with meditation may improve results and give you an added boost. This could include lower heart rate and blood pressure, increased energy levels and better concentration and memory.
- In fact, combining solfeggio with other holistic therapies such as reiki, reflexology, yoga and so on, could enhance your sessions and bring improved results.
- If you are in need of pain relief, why not place earphones on the area that is causing you pain, using the 174 Hz frequency? Try for 20-30 minutes per day. Let me know how you get on and if this works for you.
As always, if you have a health issue, consult with your G.P. before carrying out any form of complementary therapy. I am not a doctor and the content on this post is not medical advice. The main aim is to bring to your attention different methods of natural healing.
Little research has been carried out on solfeggio frequencies, but many have reported improvements in different areas. If you have any negative reactions to solfeggio, stop listening or try a different style or frequency – again, do what feels right for you.

Hi! Great article. I have a question though… If my heart is hurting emotionally, which is better, 417hz or 528hz? Thanks 🙂
Dear Daniel,
Thanks for your kind words and for reaching out. I don’t know why you’re hurting emotionally…whether it’s from the loss of a friend or loved one, a relationship break up, or perhaps just the circumstances which we are living through right now. But whatever it is, it’s very important to look after yourself. Take some time out if you can, face your emotions when you can and find ways to heal using the methods which work for you personally.
Regarding your question on which solfeggio frequency is better for you right now, my suggestion would be to listen to and experience both. Discover how they make you feel and which feels best for you in the moment – perhaps they both will. Perhaps it will be one now and the other a little while further down the line when the healing process is under way.
These 2 frequencies are used for wiping out negative energy and for personal healing and transformation. When we are hurting emotionally we can experience feelings of anger, frustration, resentment and so on. These are all perfectly normal, but it’s imortant to face these feelings and then move on, rather than letting them cast a dark shadow on our everyday lives. So listen to both and decide the best way forward with these healing methods.
I would also suggest reading my post on the Heart Chakra. (See the Major Chakras tab on the main menu.) Here you can find further suggestions for healing the heart. In addition, guided meditations work fantastically for me. Have a listen on you tube. You can search for “guided meditations for emotional healing” to start with.
I hope this has helped Daniel. I wish you healing in this difficult time. Feel free to reach out again in the comments or you can email me on jane@therapyjet.net. Stay strong and be kind to yourself.
